Dangerous goods (ADR) are materials or objects with hazardous properties that, if not properly controlled, pose a potential hazard to human health and safety, infrastructure and / or transport means.
The transport of dangerous goods is controlled and managed by different regulatory regimes, operating at both national and international levels. These regimes impose the means by which dangerous goods must be handled, packaged, labeled and transported.
The Classification of Dangerous Goods is divided into nine classes depending on the type of hazardous materials or articles available.
For the successful transportation of each ADR shipment, it must be accompanied by the following documents:
- ADR declarations
- MSDS statement – a technical document that provides product information, storage and use, safety precautions
- IMO declaration if the ship passes through the water (eg a shipment to England).
